On a cold January morning in 2007, a young man wearing a long sleeve t-shirt and a baseball hat played 6 Bach pieces in a Washington DC Metro station for nearly an hour. Nearly 2,000 people walked by on their way to work - only 6 stopped to listen, 20 gave the man money. He made $32.
What people didn't realize was that this man was Joshua Bell, one of the world's finest musicians. The violin he played was worth $3.5 million. Two days earlier, he played in a theatre in Boston where the seats averaged $100.
If we do not take a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments... what else are we missing?

This makes me feel that people in general are too self centered and focused. Now a days we are so engrossed in our own lives that we fail to see the beauty and the magnificence of life and things that happen. You could be walking down the street and hear the most beautiful song but at the same time you could be in a hurry to meet up with a business associate and rush past this person.
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs to stop and appreciate things once in a while. To me music is something that means a lot, I can sit there and listen to a song over and over and analyze it. It's the artist's emotions and feelings being put into an elegant sound. And lots of times the way it comes out is so amazing and beautiful, and theres so many types out there.
And to answer your question, the only thing we are missing is the capability and the time to enjoy such things. Like I said for most people they don't have the time to deal with things like that and just ignore it, they don't like that sort of music, or whatever other reason you might think they would not sit there and enjoy it.
Also as soon as you know somebody is famous, people are more prone to listen to you... then opposed to if your a nobody and trying to make it in the world.
